Although it came narrowly close to meeting NBC’s chopping block, Chuck lived to tell another day. Was the publicity responsible for the show’s ratings boost last night? Or will the show fall back into old habits once it settles in on Mondays?

- Approximately 15 million watched The Simpsons’ 450th episode (6.8 rating in 18-49) after the football overrun.
- The Simpsons: 20th Anniversary Special (5.6 rating) had nearly 13 million reminiscing.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.2/8) got 10.6 million all choked up.
- NCIS: LA* (1.0/3) dialed in 7 million.
- Dateline (1.5/4) reported to 6.3 million.

Now that we’ve made halfway through the television season, it’s time to readjust our DVRs once again.
Midseason staples returning to the airwaves include American Idol, 24 and Lost. Meanwhile, a number of new programs - including Human Target, Parenthood and The Marriage Ref - will vie for our attention.
Hopefully our detailed guide can assist you in the weeks to come. We have compiled information from the five major networks and included the days, times and premiere dates for this season’s programs.

Jane Lynch to Appear on The Cleveland Show

Glee’s Sue Sylvester (otherwise known as actress Jane Lynch) will become an animated character for her guest spot on FOX’s The Cleveland Show (the somewhat sub-par Family Guy spinoff).
No matter what she looks like, Lynch is always a great addition to any series.

Sunday Ratings: Eagles Sack the President

As nice as Christmas must be in the White House, the action is clearly on the gridiron. Despite cheerful numbers for Oprah’s primetime special, the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants was easily the night’s top contender.

- Approximately 17.9 million saw the Eagles beat the Giants on Sunday Night Football (7.0/17 in 18-49).
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.1/8) averaged 10.1 million over two hours.
- The Mentalist* (1.9/5) pulled in 9.5 million for CBS.
- The Simpsons (3.2/8) nabbed 7.1 million.
- The Cleveland Show (3.0/7) turned in 6.5 million.

There’s nothing NBC loves more than football Sunday. Last night’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers gave the network something to thankful for over the holiday weekend.
8pm
- Sunday Night Fooball (17.2 million, 6.6/16 in 18-49) had 2.1 million more cheering.
- Approximately 11.6 million saw the Globetrotters eliminated from The Amazing Race (3.4/8).
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (10.3 million, 3.0/7) slipped by 1.3 million.
- The Simpsons (8.9 million, 4.2/10) added on 1.9 million; The Cleveland Show (7.1 million, 3.5/8) raised another 600,000.

- The Sunday Night Football game (15.1 million, 5.6/14 in 18-49) was still the most-watched program of he night.
- The 2009 American Music Awards (5.5/14) got 14.2 million talking around the water cooler.
- The Amazing Race (11.7 million, 3.5/8) was on par with last week.
- The Simpsons (7 million, 3.3/8) lost 2 million; The Cleveland Show (6.5 million, 3.3/8) was off by 500,000.

Aside from FOX’s early celebration of Halloween (and a shift in CBS’ schedule), yesterday’s schedule was pretty uneventful. By night’s end, the Eye network was tops with the viewers while the Peacock network was first in the demos.

- 60 Minutes (4.3/11 in 18-49) pulled in 16 million after a football overrun.
- Approximately 14.7 million watched the Atlanta Falcons beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football (6.1/15).
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.0/8) had 10.4 million feeling emotional.
- The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror XX (4.1/11) entertained 8.6 million; The Cleveland Show (3.8/9) pulled in 7.7 million.

Family Guy Spin-off Gets Second Season

After only a handful of episodes, FOX is pleased enough with The Cleveland Show to order a complete second season. (Only 13 episodes beyond this year had been previously ordered.)
Honestly, I’ve no idea why. The spin-off lacks a lot of the hilarity Family Guy brings to the table weekly, and I just cannot get over that German bear. Ridiculous is one thing. Outlandish is quite another.
